Walbro are good for less powerful cars, whereas the Bosch are good for more powerful cars. The Bigger bosch pumps are really noisy too.

I was told that they only fail when they get dirt/contamination inside them, from not running the pre-filter sock on the inlet of the pump.

im not too sure on the externals as my mates use internals
for an external setup it is wise to use a pre filter and post filter as i do on my setup.
Though i hear some people with in-tank walbro pumps with no problems at all, might've been a bad batch? i dont know

i have one in the sr bluey with no problems for about 9 months so far. i always keep the fuel level above a quater. in saying that ive read alot of bad stuff about them. there are copies which from what ive read u want to stay completely away from. bosch is a proven performer and should give you no real dramas. i paid $180 from a sale on nissilvia.

mounting wasnt straight forward i had to do a bit of thinking to get it to fit in tank.

they are a quiet pump.

but this went in a 910 bluebird

Where'd you guys get yours from? Hoping it'll be around the $150 mark delivered...

Mine shit itself today in the carpark of the dyno place   ::) Have to hit it with my clublock to get it to make any sound at all, once it starts up I can't turn the car off because I have to hit it again...

Nevermind, bought a bosch 040 today, read up a lot of bad things about the walbro so spent a bit more and decided to do it right the first time..

where'd you get the 040 from, and what sorta price?

i'm interested in the installation of aftermarket pumps, because i'm not prepared to have to drive around with 1/4 of a tank at a minimum, it should be able to use the last little bit like the stock one imo. is it just about making sure the filter sock goes to the bottom of the tank to pickup the last little bit? anyone succeeded in this and if so, what pump did you use?
