Fuel Pump Upgrade
« on: Nov 19, 2005, 01:27AM »
Hey what's the compatibility of fuel pumps between Nissan cars?  I will need to upgrade my stock internal fuel pump to something larger.  I was thinking of using a Skyline fuel pump since it appears to done on Silvias before.  I have come across a stock GTR Skyline internal fuel pump but want to know whether it will be compatible on a U13 Attesa.  Will my ECU be able to control the flow correctly?  Will I still need to get a fuel regulator?  Any useful input would be appreciated.  Thank you.

dunno if they are interchangable, but ecu wont need to be touched (fuel pump just pumps the fuel, and the injectors use what they need) fuel regulator only if you want to squeeze more out of your stock injectors.

You may need to change your regulator if it doesn't have enough flow to keep the pressure down to the correct level.

Hook up a pressure gauge to your fuel rail with the stock pump, check the fuel pressure at idle then install the new pump, check the pressure again and if it's raised by a significant amount you need a bigger regulator.

generally the pumps are interchangeable, it is a matter of whether you can get it to fit in the cradle that is in the U13.
it may be larger it may be smaller. but if all else fails go and get an aftermarket walbro pump, will work out cheaper, and they definately are smaller so it will fit.

wouldnt think you would have to touch the pressure reg but try the pressure gauge just to make sure

How much is a Walbro pump worth these days?  Which model is recommended and how much flow can they put out?  Thanks.

i dunno if you guys have the equivalent of this car over there but for us the Infiniti Q45 fuel pump is what some turbo owners use.
