Pin Stripe Delema
« on: Jun 27, 2004, 09:12PM »
im getting the parts on my car that i crashed resprayed and the guy siad that i will have a hard time finding the pin stripe that used to be on it, its like a shitty checkered looking thing, so he said u can take them off using a heat gun, i took one stripe off the door that is getting redone, and it left a faded and non-faded checkered pattern... so i cant take them all off now otherwise there will be faded pattern all around the car, does anyone kno where i can get the same pin stripes form? the guy said it might be a bit hard to find now-a-days cause its such an old car. thanx

you can see the pin stripe in this pic...

i have similar stripes down the sides of my car which i plan to take off one of these days. if you still need stripes then your welcome to have mine when they come off.. im not sure how theyd re-stick though.

You may as well just bite the bullet and remove the side stickers.. at least there will some uniformity in the non-faded sections of paintwork ;) and you could always just find a different set of side stickers to go directly over where the old ones were..

im not sure how much a cheap respray costs but yea.. you could also take off the stickers and get a fresh new coat of paint ;D

cut n polish should do the trick but youll have to do the whole door/panel, has the panel beater matched the colour he sprayed on there? ask him about how to cut n' polish it to match up

well i spoke to the panel beater today and he said that the strip is non-genuine, and that he will give a go at buffing it out, he said the fadedness might only be in the glue from the pin stripe, he said he will give it a trial run on the guard hes gotta fix and see if he can buff it out, and if he can, he will do all the pin strips on the car for me... fingers crossed :'(
