Hey everyone, i searched for this topic but couldnt find much on it so if anyone knows could u pls point me in the right direction......anyways

Just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to change the material part on the doors, i dont mean the vinal part, the other bit in the middle, im wanting to replace it with a coloured vinal?

any ideas or suggestions would be great!!!

well i no ZiiN has red on his trims and on my doors the whole trim is white. i wil get sum pic 4 u ok

ummmmm.....anyone know where to get some cheap pvc vinal with cotton backing from

Proper automotive vinal doesnt have cotton backing so it is strechy. Go and se your local trimer they will sell you some good stuff then go to clark rubber or similar and get some 3mm foam and back it with that it will look more profesional. Then doing it with ordanry household vinal

I reckon they look pretty damn good smooth. Seems you did a really good job on them! That white suits the dark TRX interior and would look good running with a silver exterior.

yeah how did u do that?? coz theres no join / break there in the material?? (in regard to the white part and the black underneath)

ummmmm.......ok well......basically all i did was take the door trim off, unscrew the top piece from behind, that should just come off, then where the vinl part is where it is pressed, i just peeled it back, cut the new piece of vinyl to size, then covered the existing material with contact cement(avaliable at bunnings) then just put the vinyl on and pressed it down, then put more contact cement on both the back of the existing vinyl and the new one, then pressed that down......... after that i simply let it to dry, when dry, i trimmed up the viynl, stapled back the edges, cut out holes for the handle and window winder, then screwed back on the top piece , and wallah, new door trims,.......i know this isnt the best write up, but when i get the chance ill do a better one........or if anyone in melb wants to do it, i should be at the dyno day, not to go on the dyno but to visit, and i will see you then, and can explain it......

If me and noss get off our asses this weekend, he's helping me re-do the roof in the wagon and if we're really adventurous we're having a crack at the door trims too....plenty of photos to be taken.

just read bout the dyno day......ive answered my own question, ummmmm well hopefully mak it to the next cruise, just gotta get my car serviced, not sure how well it would go yet on a long trip

we're hoping to organise another dyno day.. but we're going to go about it very differently this time around. it will be same place, same price, but yeh, things will be different.

just looking at your doors again and i realised how different mine are and how much more difficult it will be. considering i have electric windows, and vinyl and like a carpety material on there i might consider getting it professionally done. arr i dunno.

dude electric windows are possibly easier to take off than those winders... just get a screw driver, pop it up a bit, forward, up a bit more and bang its off
