fitting the thermostat

firstly yes i have searched and also read through the fsm.

i purchased one from repco months ago and finaly had the time to put it in but when i got the old one out i noticed they were a slightly different style but still the same shape and dimensions etc. i started to put it all back together but the thermostat wouldnt stay, it kept falling out of the housing and wouldnt click or twist in to place??

any ideas...just wondering if there is any trick to actually getting the thermostat to 'stay in place'??

Put a bit of the blue sealant stuff on it just to hold it there while you put the pipe back over the top.
