Stripped swawbar linkage bolt, any ideas how i can get it off? now with pics

hey guys,

was going to put in a new sway bar linkage today as my right had side is missing the underside rubber bush BUT it would seem the previous owner has tried to rectify the problem by over tightening the bottom nut, and now it is just spinning on its own thread and i cant undo it.

the space looks to cramped to angle grind the entire linkage off.


any suggestions on how i could get it off?

ok in this first pic it shows the bolt that is spinning on itself and wont undo at all.




and this pic shows why im doing this in the first place (the missing bush)




hacksawing my be possible but its very cramped an awkward and it would take literally 2 days to saw through about 0.5cm thick steel because its at such a bad angle

Dremel for the win. Buy dremel high quality cutting disks... ull have her off in 5 mins.  ;D

mmm i dont have a dremmel :(

im thinking bolt cutters, but once again its gonna be hard to get right in there because of the shape of the controll arm

I enjoy the destructive nature of a plasma cutter, however this option may not be feasible for you.

See if you can try a nut splitting tool. I think they're fairly cheap.

i'm trying to think if angle grinder fits in there.. i can't remember but i'll have a look tomorrow when my back wheel is off  ;)

cheers guys, i ended up getting it off with a mates angle grinder with a small disk, it was just an absolute pain in the ass to cut!

linkage is now in and working perfectly  :)
