is there a difference for timeing

hmm does anyone know if there is a difference to timin a ca20 to a ka24? coz i cant find which mark to time to for my ca20 only for a ka24

Download the FSM from this site, it will tell you between the two engines.

care to explain a little better? ca20's use a timing belt and ka24's use a timing chain so it makes things very different.

well i dont know anythin about a ka24, in the manual i have it says how to time a ka24 to the third line, but doesnt say anythin about a ca20... but im guessin it has to be right...

Not sure if that was directed at me or not...My comment was to use the fsm as a guide as it will have the timing for both engines in it.

Are you talking about ignition timing or cam timing?

Im assuming ignition timing as in 20deg before top dead center for you base idle timing.

as in FSM ca20 5degees BTDC - with car in diagnostic mode!!! thats the 3rd line(from the left I think but brain isn't working 2 well atm)

if  you don't understand the above - search its been covered B4

Just so you know, i wasnt suggesting what i said to be the correct timing. I was just answering jasons questions...

I suspected that might be the case, but if someone didn't know better, they may have thought 20 it is, hence the NOOOOOOOOOO
