U12 Attesa rear diff

Can anyone tell me why the rear diff needs to be a long nose pinion. Just wondering why a S13/S14, R50/D22 diffs cannot be used. Couldn't you just use a longer tail shaft.

Subframe cradle that the diff bolts to under the car is very different on the U12 and U13...

Due to long/short nose.

It could work with modifications, I don't see why not.

why not just pull the centre out of a s13 diff and not the case?? theoretically it should be fine to do that

Ok cool thank's. U12 diffs are near impossible to come by, so just lookin for ideas.
