Low idle when warm
« on: Sep 15, 2007, 02:06PM »
I have a problem on my U12 2.4L manual Pintara. The car starts fine, idles up over 1K when cold then comes back to 800 or so but as soon as the temp starts getting warmer the idle drops off to 500 rpm and sometimes even stalls. I have new leads and plugs, checked all the vacuum lines they are all in place and seem ok. Any other things to look out for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe your fuel pump crapped itself. When car is warm remove the top fuel line of off your fuel filter, if no fuel come out when crank engine then you need a new pump, about $125 trade from scotts auto one. My car did this and the symptoms were remarkably similar.
Another thought is:
Check the plugs behind the intake manifold (on my car they are grey and orange I presume they are the same on all pintara's). They seem to control the idle. I know you said you checked plugs but still.

Nah I don't think it's the fuel pump, I replaced it 10K ago. After reading some stuff on here I'm starting to think it's the AAC valve or soleniod.

Ok I fixed it today. The solenoid was open circuiting when it got hot. Replaced it with one from a wreckers and Bob's your uncle, I have a nice idling car again.

Which solinoid did you replace.
Your car may be able to go faster.
But I can go any where. except into a garage, underground carpark, bridge...

2 sticks and manual locking hubs. have to get out to drive it around

Idle control solenoid?

What kind of IACV do the KA24 motors have? Stepper motor or solenoid?
