engine wont start!!!
« on: Aug 25, 2007, 06:48PM »
ive just put a new engine, well not new but from the wreckers, not reconditioned or any thing but was assured it worked.

all wiring is plugged in.

only thing that is ot on is next to the battery where the polution gear i think it is, one of the little tubes i cant find so it isnt on, but all the other 6 or 7 are on.

timing chain was never off, so cam and crank should be all good.

i had to use my dizzy so there could be a problem with timing. when dizzy is in fully retarted position engine will almost start while feathering accelerator, but soon stalles out. when in fully advanced position nothing happens at all. and in middle tries to but nothing.

so if any one has any ideas PLEASE HELP.....

Go to supercheap or the likes and buy some hose for the solenoid valve you say is missing.

If that doesnt work, make sure you have your fuel in/fuel return the right way around. When i did an engine conversion on my old pulsar it wouldnt start, and that was the problem.

See how those things go.

where do the 4 tubes go to, that way i can figure out which one im missing and where it goes to

ok, so i thought i might give a little more info on my problem.

when i start in sometimes in will go for a few seconds but stall out, when it is goin there is a hollow sort of sound i guess u could call it.

fuel lines are round the right way.

i was thinking it might not be firing on all cylinders... spark leads go number 1 at pulley end to number 4 at fly wheel end right?

how do i check that all injectors are .... injecting?

exhaust is making a popping noise when it briefly runs as well, not loud back firing popping but popping is the best word i can think of.

thats all i can think of now, but if anyone has any questions to ask that may help them come up with a better idea of what could be  wrong please ask away..

ok replaced spark plugs...... no joy

was told tappets were noisey when the engine was running and hydrualic lifters may not have been bleeding up.... but i guess that only way to see if that is the case is to replace and see how i go.

tested compression and all were 185-190psi... so compression is good.

this is a good thread.... it consists of me talkin.... accept for krazy's help
