Clutch pedal shit itself
« on: May 26, 2007, 07:04PM »
so today i was driving and the clutch peddle went all funny on me... like it does when you have no clutch fluid.  Basically only had last 2" of peddle movement which actually did anything and that made it basically 'clutch engaged' or 'clutch not engaged'.  On closer inspection the whole peddle had moved actoss towards the brake, and was very floppy horizontally.  The peddle had been squeeky for ages.

Later i found a small nut on the floor and decided it must be related.  I went about pulling clutch pedal out. (which is an absolute bitch!)  after finally getting it out, i discovered there are tack welds which hold the frame of the pedal all rigid... one set of tacs had come off making the pedal very floppy.
I have put JB weld on the surfaces and clamped them together, hopefully this will fix the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

Oh you should have seen the problems i had with re-installing it!!!  the clutch pedal is designed to be put in before the ventilation ducts and hence the duct is right in the way making it almost impossible to put the pedal back... in the end I kinda bruitilised the duct in the way to make the job easier.  Who needs air boost on their right hand anyway???

The squeaky pedal is caused by the bushes on the return spring. $3 for the parts. But a bitch of a job. Xtrail use the same clutch pedal as the KA24E powered U12 so I told by my Nissan spare parts man. Nissan dont make the CA20E parts anymore.
Your car may be able to go faster.
But I can go any where. except into a garage, underground carpark, bridge...

2 sticks and manual locking hubs. have to get out to drive it around
Good old Nissan.

KA's are the shit. According to all the info on the site, they are better then sliced bread and thats saying something.

Yeah my bush is extremely worn, the spring slides sideways along the shaft making the squeeky noise.
It is definately a bitch of a job to do!  you have to disconnect the drivers ventilation duct to get the pedal in/out.
