Rattling/Creaking sound...

I have a little problem.
My car seems to be making a rattling/creaking sound, it sound slike its coming from the rear drivers side wheel well. could it be the rear parallel link bushes?? do they need to be replaced, or could it be something else??

Rear swaybar bushed jecks, they seem to stuff up commonly on FWD U12's.

well i dunno,

check it anyway, but when mine was stuffed it was making a loud knocking noise (like a big stick hitting the wheel well)

interesting.....  mine has a similar noise to what chris is mentioning on the passenger side.  happens every time you hit a bump.  i thought the wheel was loose or maybe the disk was coming loose.  ive checked to see that something wasnt about to fall off but i cant find anything wrong that i can see.  i replaced the rear swaybar bushes that are on the pin but it hasnt stopped the noise.  i dont know if replacing the d mounts would help.  i replaced the shocks about 12 months ago and thought maybe the cartridge had shit itself.  i was thinking of taking the car to get one of those 28 point inspection things.

when does your noise appear?  is it straight line or while turning?  or all the time?


i kept looking in the boot for something loose  ;D

The mounts themselves seem pretty flimsy at the back... its not unknown for them to detach themselves from the underbody of the car.  This would make a knock everytime you go over a bump.  I dunno just a thought.

I also had one of my strut tower bolts come a bit loose, it made a kinda knock sound too.

mine is a constant knocking sound, and just like u12-910, i checked my boot for something loose...
hrm, well ive got SSS coming to my house on saturday, hopfully between the two of us we can figure something out.

probably isn't the problem, but this kinda happened to me....

me zorst piping was hittin against me rear axel - right near the driver's side rear wheel

solution: had to cut ~ 15cm-ish of piping off, then was able to pull the piping bit that was hittin off the rear axel, then welded the zorst back!

hopefully it aint this!

One of my swaybar D-bushes popped out on me after some spirited driving. I checked under the car to see what all the racket was from, saw the D-bush still clipped around the bar, so I pulled it off, drove the car home and put the bush back in the next day.

I found mine knocked when I went over bumps or turned a corner. It made no noise when I was driving straight over smooth roads.

Jono ive fixed the problem a while ago, and i decided not to reply to this thread, but thats exactly what it was...
 warned for not reply back after budgie told you exactly what was wrong in the second post... :P

the exact same thing happened to my u12 pintara ti at 1st it was making a little knock and it kept getting worse so took it to the mechanics n they put new sway bay,did the bushes and sum other stuff then it was fixed but now the other sides doing it so its in the shop now but they keep asking if i drift it and i said no then sed it has hit sumthing really hard but ive neva hit anything

oh well

let me no wen uve fixed it please??

old toppic yes.  havent been here for ages.  my problem wasnt the sway bar.  it was the shock coming undone from the strut.  the shock was then bouncing around.  it had completly come undone.  now no more knocks woohoo.
