U12 hatch boot release problem.

Hi, The cable for the boot release and petrol latch on my U12 hatch broke off and now i cant put petrol in my car. Does anyone know how i can fix it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Alex

get pliers and pull on it lol, pull the carpet back (remove seat if u need to) and think of something to attach to it for now until you go to the wreckers and buy a new mechanism.

Thanks Chris i cant believe i didnt think of using pliers. When faced with a situation like this i cant seem to think simply, my mind was contemplating pulling the whole car to pieces and installing some kind of remote door opening system.

you can just fold back the carpet/board in the side of the boot to reveal the petrol release mechanism.

Or you could do what I do and use the ignition key (carefully of course, so you don't scratch car) in the gap between the fillercap and the quarter panel. All you do is push the key against the white latch thing and hey presto you filler cap is open.

Also I tried the pliers route and it dosn't work.

Did your cable break the little lead thing that sit's in the mechanism.

Thanks for all the help guys. I went to a wreckers and bought the whole new lever and cable and fixed it today. It was one of those painful jobs that looks easy then ends up resulting in threaded bolts and missing screws when you go to put it back together. Thanks again, Alex
