Changing Gearbox Oil

Gonna service my car on the weekend and i thought it was about time that i changed the gearbox oil. Had my  Pintara now for over 2 years and the oil has never been done. Its a 1990 2.0 Auto CA20 with the timing belt.
Anyone know how to change it? I know where the dipstick is and there's a little hose hanging out the bottom that doesnt do anything.
Anyone got some ideas?

there will be a drain plug at the bottom of the gearbox which requires something square shaped to open it. the head of a 1/2inch ratchet will do the trick.
you can find the drain plug by looking underneath from the front of the car. obviously the auto trans is on the passenger side.

From memory it takes about 4-5l of fluid, but it's probably best to check that in the service manual.

Is there something I should use or need to use to clean it out?... I assume after the oil not being changed for over 3 years it would be pretty dirty and full of crap. I know you can get stuff to run through your engine to clean it before you change the oil, is there something like that you can get for your gearbox?

You don't need to flush the oil, just drain it and put new stuff in.

If any metal shavings or a significant amount of black crap comes out in the oil your gearbox will need a rebuild soon, otherwise it should be fine. It's normal to have very fine metal powder stuck to the magnet on the back of the drain plug.
