hey guys here's the story....

as the topic suggests, me trx won't start! i thought it was a battery problem, but got a new battery and still won't go. tho since doin that, when you turn the keys to the "on" position, the sound from the fuel pump kickin in doesn't happen, so i thought it was a fuel pump problem. in addition, the "ecm" light won't light up either, so i'm also thinkin its an ecu problem....

....took it to me mechanic, the ecu seems to be fine as does the fuel pump!  ???

(some more info if it helps ppl in helpin me out  ;D)....

....tried jump startin me car off me mates car and that didn't work, so that's why initially i thought it was me battery. but then when racv came, the dude jump started me car fine!  ???   >:(

....next weekend, got a new battery and still no good (as said), NeVeTs rekons its me fuel pump as we were bashin that and the engine kinda turned over before dying again....

....in conclusion, i've had me ecu tested and they rekon its fine, so now me mechanic and me have NFI what's goin on? do u guys rekon i should get a new/replacement ecu &/or fuel pump?

any help would be greatly appreciated as this is $hitting me up the wall and back down again!

I reckon you should change the Fuel Pump mate. The same thing happend to me, I changed the fuel pump. From memory it was around $45 from the wrecker. Where bouts ya live, may be i can help you if u are in S.E suburbs of Victoria. Me in clayton south by the way.

hehe, i drive (ride) past clayton each day to go to work!

i'll giv me mechanic a call 2day to see if there's any progress, if not, i'll source a fuel pump from somewhere.

will let u know how i go

put a clamp on the return line to the fuel tank,

it will keep pressure in the system when you try to crank it (it might be letting all the fuel out of the rail and it needs a few cranks and shit to get it started)

so yeh, when u got it started, turn of off, clamp the return fuel line, try start it again, if it starts, you know what's wrong.

wriggle the ecm loom also, actally, pull it out completely and put it in again..

check your fuses

and im inclined to say, if it's not any of the above, it's an electrical problem..

Relays are another thing to check.

I remember reading about a landcruiser that had the glow plugs relay stick on and ended up cooking the motor and cracking the cylinder head.

I know this doesn't help you. But shows you that relays can stuff up. They rarely fail, but its still a possibility.

Have you been through the troubleshooting section of the ES chapter of the FSM? Check that out, it's pretty comprehensive.

hey guys, whaddup?

just lettin you know that it was me freakin fuel pump that was playing up, so a new one has been chucked in and is runnin fine now

....tho it idles a bit lower than before.... meh, the car goes now!
