car broken HELP.

hey guys not sure if this is in the right are but here goes.

My car rego is in 3 weeks and i have a problem with my car. 
    On the weekend we (my dad and me) noticed that a vacum line was of so we put it back on. This is most likely the cause of my high fuel consumption. we also increased the idle as it was idling rough. I took it for a drive and it was fine I drove to work it was fine I drive home and at Kingswood I pulled over to talk to my mate who I had seen at St Marys and followed. We pulled over and I turned my car off and when I went to restart nothing ,it would crank but not turn over. I placed a midnight phone call to my old man and when I finished on the phone the bastard car started. Since then you can turn it on but once off you have to fiddle with the idle screw to get it to start. Once running it is fine. On reading the manuel the conclusion has been reached that the problem is most likely the aac valve? (the thing that has the idle screw in it). This part looks expensive to buy. My car is 2.4ltr auto also all the ecm/ecu codes are fine.

Hit up a wreckers. Pick and payless has heaps of ka24e engined cars around.

Shouldnt be too expensive.

I've heard of people cleaning them with carby cleaner.

I took car to nepean EFI he had a look and said it was all working as it should. Then car did it's turn on turn of and not turn back on again trick. He took off the fuel line that comes out the top of the fuel filter and I turned the key. No fuel comes out. (fuel should flow at 2 litres a minute). He say it is fuel pump. To test this he taps with a hammer the area where the fuel pump is in the tank and hey presto the engine fires. New fuel pump cost $130.00 (non-genuine, brand is ACA) from Burson auto parts. (formerly coventry auto parts in penrith). Scotties auto one wanted $159.00 with a A1 card what a joke.

which engine u with!? Ka24e? or DE?! mine U13 Ka24de had similar problem b4... the mechanic said it would be the fuel pump...asking for $380 the genine one... they couldn't find any aftermarket... so i did not take that..... but the car suddently healed without pills... really strange

I got Ka24e engine. Haven't had problem since put new fuel pump in. Cost me $130 aftermarket. Sounds like I got out of it pretty cheap.

hehe, time to find a new mechanic. If they couldn't find an aftermarket fuel pump then they are slack and no use going back to them.

For the record I got my bosch 040 for $175 delivered from a Ford dealer (of all places) in Victoria.
