Hey guys,

Cousin wants to sell me a pillarless 4WD atessa Bluebird, non-turbo sr20, for $3000....

it has a bit of damage on the left rear doors, 86,000km... needs good clean up ( cut-polish, sernice/tuneup)

is this a good deal? its an import, fully complied, no rego or rwc

He has sent me some pics, the interior is pretty good, the paint is a dark blue,

so what ya all think???

Hmm could be alright, If the body is in good condition you could swap in a SR20DET from somwhere (might cost $3000) then you would have a beast of a car. But then you have to weigh up compared to a standard AWD trubo... they seem to be popping up for sale a bit more frequently now. Usually between $7-11k i think.

Its a nice looking car but if you want a performance machine, or even something as fast as an auto trx, unfortunately this isnt it. It would go pretty well but an auto NA sr20 with four wheel drive weight isnt going to be astoundingly fast.

Has the damage on the doors effected the glass or the seals in any way?

As pillarless U12 doors are RARE

You can get one uncomplied from yahoo motorsport for 2k... same colour, auto, SR20DE AWD... pretty much the same car really.

Your in melbourne arent you MAG86? Where is this car located?

... and yes, this would be pretty slow. My car was a slug, CA18DET auto when I first got it. TRX's beat it easily. This would be worse.

Keep in mind though that compliancing a car will be around $1000 anyway depending on how you do it.

dodgey bugga is trying to sell me the same car from yahoo ms ( john verban is the owner, bit of a grouchy dude by the sounds of it...)! far out $2000 is nothing, but i got the rest of the pics and its a bit of a crapper

either a KA24e turbo coversion (custom manifolds,etc)
Sr20 det coversion (easiest?....)
KA24DE N/A beast conversion....
or a CA18DET...maybe...
or sell the baby and buy a SSS U13!

Sounds just like what i've done. I bought a CA18DE manual pillarless bluebird for $2k and put a CA18DET in it. All up it has cost me about $6k. Well worth doing, you will learn a LOT about the car.

MAG86... tell your cousin that to fix that door, he will have to run to the ends of the earth to find another one. Its fucked beyond repair.

Its quite obvious from those pics that its damaged right back to the rear bumper as well!!

As far as I'm aware, you cannot complicance a damaged car. Its only good for wrecking.

Offer him 1k for it, or offer him 1k for it from me

I had a feeling it was the same one as off yahoomotorsports as well. Its a shame about the damage, although surely it could be panel beaten? Seems too good to just wreck. Probabaly cost him over a grand to buy it and get it here.

he actually was trying to sell it to me for 3k, adn then he was going to buy it from yahoo for 2k, and make a 1k profit!

he be a bit of a wheelerdealer!

I called yahoo, and the guy doesnt like to talk much at all. they are selling all the cars they have left and moving into another business venture. they have a few 'KEI' cars, 0.6lt hatches! an big arsed toyota VIP supercharged V8s, just the usual weird/rare imports.........it will cost $700 to get it complianced there in Adelaide,it needs side intrusion bars, fuel filler cap, a mirror, and all the paperwork.... then theres the roadworthy, and then the rego.....

so now we have a $4000 car with nothing done on it yet, ok how about a DET, and panels beating...$3500 + $500

so now its $8100..... and i can buy a half decent SSS atessa U13 for $9000, i would be willing to pay an extra $900 for a car that would probably last me a great deal more, and less hassle in the long run......

but i do love the U12 shape oh so much.....

i thought of a suzuki alto turbo, but the parts and stuff are so rare.....
i really like the dihatsu handivan!
all my driving ever involves lately is driving to the train station and back.... should save fuel with one of these ( and they're safer than a 50cc scooter!)
