re-trimmed and de-pinned
« on: Feb 24, 2006, 04:34PM »
hey all,

had an afternoon or two to myself before i'm back at uni, so i re-trimmed my interior and removed the dark blue pin striping. i won't bother with before pics cause a) i never took any of the interior  :P and b) the pin striping doesn't really show up all that well in pics and everyone will just be like 'why did you bother' lol.

so here's my 'after' pics

interior:

and yeh, the seat covers are tacky, but meh..  :P

removed pin striping:

and a shot after

hehe i put that one in to annoy noss cause he has his 'cars should be on roads not paddocks' thing  :P

Hey, not bad :) I gotta do something about my interior soon too, where'd you get the materials from?

The last pic proves why shots shouldn't be taken in paddocks  :P

lol, like i said, only did it to stir noss

i got my vinyl from 'foamland' but, seeing that you aren't in Tassie, that's probably not a great help.
i believe spotlight has vinyl if that's any help

Chris if you want a professional job, head over to a car upholsterer and grab some material off them..

looks good bondy, i remember looking at that car a while ago and thinking "negative camber?" heh but it looks normal now

yeh my vinyl was upholsterers vinyl, pretty stretchy and only a bit of cotton backing.
hahah, glad to hear i dont have negative camber anymore  :P

jono, joins were pretty easy, pretty much did what waldo did in the tech article (cut along the top of the seam of where the black and the old grey vinyl meet) left a bit of an overlap of the blue under the black, and used 'ksbond' glue on both surfaces, left till tacky then pressed down. wallah! seams done.

i did use wadding behind the vinyl to give it a professional feel/look too i don't think waldo did.

hey guys, thanks for the feedback

yeh i started off using a hairdryer, but i managed to pick one of Tassie's rare 35+ degree days so i gave the hairdryer idea away. strips came off easy as. i don't think the adhesive on the strips would be strong enough to pull the paint off, especially since the strips are only pretty thin.
