how to take the wing off a TRX

hey guys just wondering how u take the standard wing off the trx, will it leave holes etc thanx guys

I know it leaves holes and i know you have to bog them up ?

Some nice detailed instructions would be nice .

4 nuts then just rip it off I think.

In my limited knowledge I'd say that you would:

1. Once you have taken it off and have holes exposed, you use a hammer or equivalent and tap where the hole is to make an indent or a little dish.
2. Use a body filler and fill the dish or indent, and prep, paint etc.

Very basic guide but I think thats what you'd do in general...someone correct me if i'm wrong or if their is a better way!

open the boot up, and you will see four small nuts, where the wing is, loosen them off, depending on the conditions of the pads underneath the feet of the wing, it may need a little force, and the reason i say to only loosen the bolts and not remove them completely is that i did, then went to force the wing a bit, and gave way very suddenly, and i smacked myself in the face with it.

with filling the holes, i did it somewhat dodgy, taped the inside with gaffa tape, and bogged the top, sanded it back and painted it.

personally, i wouldnt bother knocking the holes in, as it may cause problems if you want to put the wing back on

Hmm yes good point, just might be easier to use body filler (that was my reason for mentioning)

yeah 10mm bolts i think.

The back ones are a bitch to get out unless you have a deep barrel socket piece.


but id suggest u get a socket and socket wrench, otherwise you will find it a little hard to get the back ones out.

I have simply used push in clips that are mostly flat but a tiny bit rounded so they look smooth and selastiked underneath. that seems to work a treat, I have black ones on my white TRX, and I think it looks good, if you wanted i spose you could easily use the same colour ones as your car? i like the "detatched, but could have" spoiler look...

there are only 4 bolts to undo in the boot then all you need to do is just pull it off and fill in the holes with body filler just make sure you tape up the bottom side of the hole so the body filler will set right

yeah ive done the exact same thing as sss but when i did it i ended up busting my nose up
