superhatch 17" wheels and lower springs?
« on: Sep 30, 2005, 05:54PM »
hey all i have fitted my car which is a u12 pintara superhatch with a nice new set of 17" by 7.5" or 8" pewter colour alloys now as my interior is retrimed in black vinyl this looks quite good however it now, as you can imagine has more clearance under the body than your average monster truck (and im not the bush bashing car crushing type  :-\ ) this i want to change quite badly but here's the catch im worried if i put a set of 30mm lower king springs on its going to put the rear wheels to close to the arches and when there is people in the back i will not be able to go around the first corner without smacking the rear tyres into the guard (this has happened allready at standard height) now i am aware the new springs would be harder and may get rid of the problem but i thought i would consult you guys and girls before i do it, im not sure if the rear ends in the superhatch are the same as the sedan.
so any help you guys can offer to a member in need of advice i would greatly appreciate.
cheers  :)

its bottoming into the top of the arches i looked at getting them rolled but where they are a panel beater told me it cant be done and that the only way to push it up further is with a rubber malet  :-\ so yer but its at the very top just as it starts coming down so its really more of an issue with the amount of travel rather thAN the arch itself maybe it will be a malet job in the end but at the moment im not to keen on bashing the inside of my guards but thanks for the suggestion i will still consider it  ;D

i was told that i had to have my guards flared or talk to some suspension experts and see what is the stiffest setup?

firsly, 7.5in is not legal, even 7in is not legal in your car but that's beside the point.

7in wheels scrape the guards when not rolled/flared, and you have 8in wheels? lol..
