Dyno'd
« on: Jun 18, 2005, 07:03PM »
Tagged along to a Commodore Performance Club dyno day today (With BenZor + other friend, running a vx calais and a vk). $45 got me 3 runs on the dyno, though the guy did a fourth to get the best result. Not bad :)

Was also a few falcons, pulsars and corollas. The old corsair didn't do too badly.

Best run was (as seen in the photos) 76.2kw.

Engine mods are merely a antrx-style CAI + K&N Pod Filter (which the corsair bumper covers up unfortunately - i want a pintara bar, the airflow would be terrific at speed) and the mystery exhaust (It's loud and stuff, not stock, but I don't know what specs it is).

Rake's conveniently leaving out a few details.

Those being
- The CAI not being connected upon his arrival to the dyno :P (Shit be fallin off)
- The colour of the oil, being blacker than diesel oil
- The wonderful metal-on-metal sound his car makes about 3000rpm
- The giant puff of black smoke that emitted every time he booted it.

But I will say this, with the CAI and the exhaust, it sounds fucking AWESOME.
(I drove it past him a few times last night, well, as best I could with bits of fucking dashboard stabbing me in ze knee)

The calais didn't put out a bad effort, but fark me it's running rich.

Car. With Wheels.
Licence. With Suspension.
Bank Account. With Negative Balance.. Thanks NSWPOL!

dont worry about budgie. he's a bit stupid.

most dyno runs of stock trx's that i've seen have been around the 68-72kw mark so that might be able to help you out in making an estimate of what your car is making at the fly.

Cool. I'm guessing around the range of 100kw-ish at the fly then?

Not bad, especially since my engine is in less-than-ideal condition, haha.. Hell most of the stuff on the car is still from the factory, all the suspension and everything is shot to buggery
