as some of you might've known, the tranny on my KA24 is done for (synchro + bearings problem).
So, I'm wondering if CA20E tranny is direct bolt on to the KA24, since I can get a much better deal on it than the KA24 tranny.
pictures of the CA20 tranny can be found here:

but I'm having doubts whether or not this is a CA20 tranny since if memory serves me right, the CA20 runs cable operated clutch and the KA24 got the hydraulic operated clutch...
As far as strength goes, I understand it won't be as strong as a KA24 unit would be, but if it fits it works for me since I'm not going all out in the engine department with my KA24 either.
The other tranny I'm considering is the VG30E U11 maxima tranny (same number as KA24 tranny). Many of them can be had for lower kilometres than the KA24. Only thing bothers me is if the input shaft were of the same diameter.
The new tranny will be "loaner"; in the long run, the plan is to rebuild the KA24 box with straight cut gears, thus eliminating the synchros and other weakling components, not to mention trimming excess weight off the tranny internals.
And if I'm so lucky, shorter gearings as well..
