i have jap spec taillights
« on: Oct 15, 2004, 11:20PM »
i went to the wreckers(A1 nissan @ coopers plains) today to try and buy the black stip that runs along below the taillight, but he recons they are jap taillights, and that the strip is only on the aussie ones. i probably shoulda realised that when i first got the car because the centre bit with the number plate sticks out about 50mm further than the taillights, and imho looks crappy.

i dont know what the point of this thread is tho  ??? :P

I think i got like Thai ones or something (some import)... they have a space below the lights.  It sucks, but the lights themselves look cool.
How are the Jap ones different from the Aussi ones?

jap = indicators with clear lense with coloured diffusers

aussie = orange lense with clear diffusers.

ahhh so mine are probli jap ones too (or very similar).  but my number plate thing doesnt stick out at all... just the space undernieth.
i have to make up an extra piece for it soon. if anyone else has the same issue with the space undernieth import lights i could probli make them up a piece too.

A wrecker was telling me he threw out all his jap tail lights years ago because that gap results in water getting into the boot?

U might just need to find the jap filler panel that fits in underneath the light.

my bott leaked and used to fill up the passenger side. I had the aussie lights, and tried silicone and sikaflex to seal it all, and it never worked. It came from the left tail light.

and here it is again... I think this mine is a series I rear end, but I've been unable to work it out yet.  I'm yet to take the orange section out and fit an orange globe (to have 'clear' talilights).
