White Wheels
« on: Nov 9, 2002, 01:54AM »
I saw a red TRX with white wheels a few weeks ago in Townsville. The wheels were stock, but painted white. The car looked so nice with them I was.. starting to drooolll... I might do the same with my red TRX, as I think the white wheels make it look much nicer. Any ideas? ;)

White wheels is a bit of a late '80s look, IMHO. Goes with white sneakers and jeans  ;) That said, I like white wheels on mustard gold cars.

I'm talking about white sneakers without any other colour with light blue jeans, 91nismotrx. You know, with the long sleeve shirt with the sleeves pulled up to the elbows... ::) ;)

Hey TRX had a set of arfter market 14's on it when I bought it. The were white and looked really good i thought too. Just not big enough...so I went one inch higher to 15's he he he. Its not the size of the wheel that counts, its the size of the rubber! Hello 205's!
aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahah
My point, I didnt think the white rims looked too bad on my red TRX.

did you mean they looked really nice or did your finger slip when you typed the r and hit the n accidentally  ;)

no i think the wheels on the gts r31 skylines look really N ice on a red car but painting wheels is a recipe for      R ice

But hey prove me wrong and post some pics i know i need some new ideas to make my shite box look a little bit better

I could have sold you my white TRX wheels. I sold them 6 months ago for $150 to a wheel shop. They are standard on a white TRX only so maybe you could find someone to swap with? I would guess the one you saw was in fact a stock white and not painted - the cost of coating them properly would not be worth the effort IMO.

I really like white wheels on most JAP / 4 / 6 cyl sports cars - there is a really nice modded Laser TX3 round near me - its RED with probably 16 or 17 inch WHITE Hirachi wheels - Hirachi is the pic on Gli_timmy's posts! [or it used to be?]. This car has aftermarket front bar and other mods and looks really NICE!

I want a black R34 skyline with the stock wheels [17"] but in white! Thats all I need - oh, plus the turbo helps ;D

;D Yeah, I figured that the wheels on the TRX would have been stock white and not actually painted by the owner.  ;) I know it would probably be a lot of effort to coat the wheels properly by myself, but I might give it a shot anyway. We'll see. I reckon they look really good on red TRX anyway, and mine's RED (tell me, are the red TRXs rare???). I've always thought it looked pretty cool anyway.

Haha. I've decided to paint my mags white. Seems like a though job? Any ideas? Will I need a primer for the mags? I want to do the best job I can possibly do, so any hints would be much appreciated.

Do you know someone that does, or has access to "powder coating" a friend of mine works in a factory that powder coats downlights - and as such they have a paintline where technically, wheels could be powder coated. You would need to prepare the wheels first though I think.

Just another idea..! Iknow yr i/state...

Primer is good, using a 'clear coat' after painting will also help look good & shiny and protect the paint job a bit too.

Thanx. I'll look into the clearcoat thing as well, as I agree that would look pretty good (as well as pretect it a bit). Don't know much about powder coating tho, and as far as I know I don't know anyone in that trade.

Powder coating is very handy.  Where my old man used to work they could do it, but the only that was limitinbg was the size of the object getting powder coated.  Back when I was a youngster I got bike frames and parts powder coated and chrome dipped, but I couldn't get things like wheels chrome dipped becase of the shape of them.  To actually get it done by someone costs quite a few dollars, so have a think about whether or not it might just be easier to buy new wheels?
