« on: Jan 3, 2004, 12:11PM »
Hi Guys,

Just doing some more mod's to my car

am posting some piccies for you to view,
I am converting the lights to a Narva type BMW light with a led ring that lights up with parkers, I think it looks cool.

Cheers

Will the lights be covered over when finished (like BMW lights, circular behind a cover)?  Would look pretty damn good!

I dunno about those huge driving lights though mate...

Agreed, headlights will look real good, would love to do it myself, but I'm not 100% on the big spotties though.  My opinion only, and my opinion ain't worth shit :P

Nice work on the interior too.

What, I never said I didn't like it asshat! :P

At least I don't think I did... but if I did, then I'm the asshat.

I like the idea wiv those bmw lights yo, but i think u should cut  a larger hole in your front bar were the park lights are, then fit them in more then fiberglass it up.

Hi guys sorry about the delay in replying have been flat out

The big spoties to start with are for a evo or wrx look, I agree they look a bit odd but nothing ventured nothing gained. I still am yet to paint then silver.

The twin headlight look (BMW) which I am really peekin over looks really good I wired them up today, but can not complete the other side as Auto barn dont have anymore at the moment
They are a narva lamp $139 pair model  71850LED 115mm diameter x 105mm deep driving light 55 watt . They second light will have a 100watt globe in for high beam( it will void the warranty) but thats cool.

I had to make custom brackets out of aluminium to fit them.

I am getting some perspex to cover the front lens. and  iwill be manufacturing a backing for them and painting the inside silver to get rid of the black look behind the lights

Sounds like a lot of work I guess but its my hobby

once I have all this done I will be puting and aluminuim spoiler on the boot, Painting the door handles to match the car, New sports seats, Sun roof. Then get some of the panels resprayed.

Any Idea's what to do with the rear of the car ??????

After all the cosmetics are done I am attacking the engine.
I will be chasing a second hand head to hot up and see how it goes after that. I dont really want to turbo it. Front wheel drive and all  i dont like torque steer . but an extra 20 kw would be nice at least.

Hope this answers your questions !!

I am not online much (LOL even though I work in Information Technolgy LOL) so you may have to patient

Catch you soon
Thanks for the feed back
Here is what the headlights look like with the parkers on

Catch ya !!    sht  I  wrote a novel  :P

Thats the way you buy them

if you read my massive email it will state the model and price

They use a led and a sort of fibre optic plastic to make the ring glow

do you have cable or 56k... and if you have cable i have no fucken idea what your whining about. cable will download that in a 1second flat. but if u have 56k ill try and make the actuall size smaller. not the viewing size, as in the image size.

If u are worried about turbo with front weel drive, have u considerd a 4 weel drive gearbox for the KA?  All u need is a RW conversion.  There are so many people who will rip u off man, i am getting mine done for only $1500 at adelaide jap.  I know people who have paid over $6000 for a RWD conversion.  Thats bullshit.  Any one who charges that much should be punched in the face.  The RW section comes straight off the attesa and goes on with a few small modifications, one being the fuel tank.  Look in the right place if u are interested.  I would recomend a turbo powerd KA24DE over an sr20 now that i have actualy seen it in action man.  KA' are clearly understated man.  Go fast n furious yo.

Good work. I had to do a double take cos it looked very WRXish. May i suggest having a moulded carbon fibre/fibre glass backing around the lights like the aftermarket WRX twin headlights you can get?

After all the cosmetics are done I am attacking the engine.

hahahahaha.....you will never want to drive my car then. It's getting a TO4E.  ;D I don't believe in torque steer (cos i don't have an LSD  :cwm27:)

I saw the Melbourne ride I would love to go the cruise but doubt I will have the time at the moment . Also I have a leaky injector at the moment and am sourcing some infor on the correct upgrade( eg larger cc) injector but am not having much luck anyone done this yet? s

As for torque steer I have a LSD as all trx's came standard with them, But you still get torque steer if you drive hard enough and I do ! I bought the car bout 6-7 years ago with 70,000 klm its a 12th month 1992 model the last of them I think) driven it hard its whole life changed oil every 5,000 km it now has 211,000 klm on the clock doesnt smoke and doesnt use any oil. Its Brill I love it to death. The only time it let me down was when i ran out of fuel, which of course was my fault LOL. I do all the mechanical work myself (I started work as a mechanic but have been in IT for the last 8 years
i am so sick idiots putting things together wrong and not really giving a sht thats another reason I do it myself .

As for the rear wheel drive / 4wd drive version BRING IT ON  I would gladly pay for this but am yet to see one done, as for the Altessa isnt it a slightly different floor pan at the rear ( I HOPE I AM WRONG )  (and I would give my left nut to smoke up the rear of the car) I think  i am geting a boner LOL

Cause  i thought of doing this a year ago but got disouraged my another mechanic, Obviously didnt have my enthusiasm

I would love to see some photo's of your RWD conversion from Adel Jap I spoke to them ages ago when  I had a dirty ole telstar as  i want the twin motor for it

As for the KA24e engine they have a  pretty well bullet proof bottom.

I did find a website years ago with a picture of a ka24det (Factory) and lived in hope of finding one here but havent as yet .

Cheers n thanks for the invite I will see how it pans if I can come

Sht another novel Sorry guys !

Mrwiggly,

Your long posts are good, as for the most part they are easy to read  ;D

Nah good work mate.  My car has exactly the same kilometeres on it as yours, also blows no smoke but its a CA20E.  Service them well and they will love you for it  ;)

If we see you on the cruise, great stuff- if not, hope to see you at another one!

As for the KA24e engine they have a  pretty well bullet proof bottom.

The only weak point is the pistons due to thin ring lands, but a set of custom hypereutectic ones with thicker ring lands will stand up to much abuse. It's over revving/detonation that kills an engine.

No KA series engine ever came from the factory as a standard turbo engine.
If it had it would've been in my car a long time ago.
