Side Skirts
« on: Nov 17, 2003, 04:38PM »
Hey, just discovered that Jap Spec pulsar SSS side skirts are almost a direct bolt on. they are the same legth, just need to be moulded into the front mud flaps (if u have some).  They're pretty easy to find, and around $200 a pair.  I'll try get some pics up...

Stuff the front mud flaps man, u don't need em.  Chuck em in the bin. But u have to keep u'r rear flaps unless u fiberglass u'r rear skirts.    Have u seen my car in the Adelaide cruise feedback section?  Seen my skirts?

There are many skirts that fit, just have a look around, go to a body shop and try out all their skirts until u find a match like i did.     My sideskirts n spoiler can also be seen on a Hyundai and Lancer.  It was a coincidence that they both happend to be from the same car.  Also i have seen my sideskirts on a s14 200sx and silvia.  All the same guys.  Nissans are very similar too each other, u will be suprised what u can fit.  Don't let any one tell u otherwise, find out for yourselves.

get rid of the front  ??? ???

the front is where you'd be sure to keep them being that the car is front wheel drive and all the front wheels would be spewing up rocks and shit everywhere all over your doors, i took off my rears cause they were scraping all the time and i've received a few nice chips in my rear bumper behind the wheels just from the rear tyres throwing up rocks, and the rear wheels are only rolling stock whereas the front are powered.

or am i the only one who thinks this?

I don't have em at the front, u don't get shit all over your doors.  Just a bit of mud at the bottom section neer the weels.  Its not that much mess, I just keep cleaning my car once a week.  Besides, heeps of cars don't have em with kits, r32,-3-4, Silvia, and others.  If u take the flap of the back, there is a massive gap between your skirts and bumper, at least with mine ayway since it's a corsair rear bar.  Eventualy im fiberglassing my bumpers and geting rid of the flaps alltogether for i main reason:  U get lower clearance without em.

i'd agree with both almost any sideskirt will fit, and that the mudflaps come in handy.. but in regards to the mudflaps its each to their own opinion.

regarding ride height, personally i'd rather have the mudflaps scraping speedbumps and what not rather than my exhaust or sway bars. my mudflaps are however lucky to be 30mm off the ground, but i'd shorten them before i removed them

You can fit the s13 front lips, just that the r32 front lip need a touch of modifying at the sides.  I was told that so much is possable with u12, just not many people bother.

Most Nissans are simmilar in body size and fits, I was told by a nissan professianolist that most nissans like skylines, Silvia and all those were stemed from u12 originaly.  U can see the similarities, especialy from the pillerless u12 to the Silvia overall model & also u can see the similarities of the 180's rear to the pillerless model.

All stemmed from the U12?  Stupidest post I have seen on this forum EVER.

Apart from the fact that the S13 is RWD, the R31-34 are RWD/4WD, the only engine from the same family as the U12 is the CA18DE and DET varietys (and that's only related to Aus spec U12's with the CA20E, not Jap Spec), the chassis sizes are different, etc, etc, they are very close.

Homer!  What have you done to the car?  I don't think it had broken axles before.

Before!  Before!  You're living in the past, Marge.  Quit living in the past.

What, I never said I didn't like it asshat! :P

At least I don't think I did... but if I did, then I'm the asshat.

i think hiro is talking about the body dimensions being similar.. i mean he has got a point... the r32 rear spoiler fits on a pintara... so does the 180 front lip that someone has on these forums..

I think wat u have to take into consideration is the fact that he said u gotta see wats best... i mean not all things are dead easy swaps, but if we do our research than we'll never know wat is in store for the u12 cars..
traction kicked in yo!

yeah but he said everything stems from the u12. its a very big & also very fallacious statement. cars being similar in dimension in no way means it is derrived from that car. that would be like saying, "the commodore stemmed from the falcon cause they're a similar size"

sideskirts on any car are easy to find. people are just so friggin lazy or ignorant or whatever to even bother trying to fit other skirts, but really they're a piece of piss to match up.

admitedly yes, some people are going to want exact fits to keep costs down and thats why a lot of people would probably appreciate that aussie_gli started this thread  in the beginning.

i also have an r32 front bar which i bought to test fit on the pintara.. its about 50-80mm too wide, and for some people, that kind of mod to just a front lip is out of their league & that means costs are going to go thru the roof for them.

only rear spoilers with legs will fit too (i.e. r32 gtr spoiler, r32 bomex rear spoiler - think sir_trx) something with a flat surface that mounts to the bootlid will need to be heavily modified to work as both the r32 & silvia bootlids are different to the u12.

but anyway, i dont believe shaun ever said any sideskirts wouldnt fit, after all, we went on a u13 sideskirt fitting expedition one day.

I was talking about the bodies dude, as for the engines, that "would" be a stupid thing to say, but i didn't.

But hey, about the bodies, thats what an importer told me.  When company's make a model car, as time goes buy, they look back on older cars they have made and work with it on paper or computer and then mold it into something new.  Nissan does that heeps from what i have been told, if u look at all the cars, it makes sence.

Also, I did "NOT" say that all Nissans stemmed from u12 after that period.  Only S13, R32, Maxima.  The Cafiro was a mix of a Silvia & R32.  All other models came from S13, R32 n so fourth.  But now, the car shapes are changing very much too their own distinction.
