I say yes (based on what I've read)

basically my train of thought goes something like this:

u12, u13s and gti-r's all definately share the same front strut setup, I've read in a few places that s13 fronts have been successfully fitted to gti-r's and u13s :)

tein is top notch stuff! i know track cars that have gone quicker just by installing tein suspension.

Tein are shit.

Their made in taiwan now.

their only good stuff is the n1 and monoflex, even the mono's are pushing, superstreets are absolute crap. All the old stuff is crap too, my mate has old HR's and their so stiff its not funny.

No dampening what so ever.

mate, don't mean to sound like a jerk, but i work with one of the country's top ride technicians (some of the recent cars he's done are the F6X Territory, GT, Typhoon etc etc) and he's pulled down quite a few sets. Absolute shit. Manufacturing of the valving is cheap and nasty.

They might work nicely at first, but won't for too much longer after that.

well heres a thought, dangerous i know. tein is not made for daily driving. it is designed for the track like most coilovers. too much street use dose stuff them as the dampening is so stiff and the cheap shit tends to be stiffer again.

even superstreets are track stuff and if you want it to last don't drive it to the shop every bloody day, it is just a little more road friendly to get you to the track and back.

I don't know about that adam, you seen their race gear? People swear by them in formula 3, bilsteins come second. All the engineer's recommend them also.

I don't go off quality for street purposes, their all shit haha

putting coilovers in a street only car is a complete waste IMO.

OK so out of all that I've had one person say they "should" fit.

Not asking for opinions on brands, just whether/what coilovers WILL/WILL NOT fit in a U12 (obviously will need some minor mods but just shit I can do)

Just a note, "conventional" coil overs that only use a threaded sleeve on the damper body are only really adjustable for spring pre-load, not height adjustment. To adjust the height, you need to use shorter springs.

Coilovers that use a threaded clevis are truly height adjustable without having to adjust spring height / pre-load.

OK maybe I will rephrase.

Forget the link in the first post, what I want to know is, what coilovers will fix in a U12? (front and rear)

Nothing i know of commercially available off the shelf for rears
Fronts, some S13 stuff *might* fit, all depends on the location of the clevis on the damper body (if it's up too high the damper body hits the driveshaft); and the top mounts aren't the right bolt pattern.

As Adam said, if you want fully height adjustable ones, you need the threaded nut that adjusts the mounting brackets height along a threaded sleeve, old style c/o make u compress/decompress the spring to adjust height, this will fark your spring rates and most likely screw the tuning of the damper.

I was going to try buddyclub s13 coilovers, ovalising one of the front holes in the strut and the bottom is bolt on. For the rear, cusco top hat and front forks on the rear (s13 standard rear for is an eyeball) and it should be ok, I needed to do a few measurements however, I might still do them soon anyway.

not entirely true dozer. it all comes down to spring rates and damper valving, most off the shelf coilovers have too much damping to "feel" track oriented.

if you after a good ride, get good spring kit and new shocks.

if you got money to burn and do not like your kidneys and plan on hitting the track or show's get coilovers.

there is always exceptions to the rules. you can get custom made coilovers and whatever else to try for a good ride but it gets bloody expensive when you pissing around with koni inserts etc..

all those brands mentioned are good, tein, koni, bilstein, ohlins. they have all had a lot of money and development.
i work with some bloody talented suspension gurus and they know there shit.

DTM-031 is just trying to find a set of coilovers that fit his car, you going to help him or not.
