Could it be that the thermostat is stuck open?and its running cold?

hey bigbazza6969

hey.. wat sort of car are you driving if its the u12... well these cars never run hot unless there is somthing wrong with your radiator or what-not... its not hard to tell if your car is over heating after a drive see if there is water in the overflow tank or jus listen for a steam kinda sound, well thats my opinion... if you want to be on the safe side, do check if your thermostat is stuck and not letting the car warm up, or take it to the mechanics

gauge sender could be dirty, mine was and i was getting crap readings from it. Best thing is to take it out of the manifold, give it a good clean with some wet and dry and see how you go.

If no luck you can test it via the fsm, if its fine then start looking at your cooling system.

On the CA20s there are two temperature senders on the thermostat cover, where the top radiator hose connects to the engine.

There's a 2-pin one that tells the ECU what temp the engine is, and there's a 1-pin sender that's for the gauge. Clean up the connection on the 1-pin sender and see if that makes a difference.

If it doesn't, ground the wire that goes to it by sticking a bit of sheet metal or a screwdriver in the plug and touching it to bare metal on the car. If the gauge goes up there's a problem with the sender. If not, there's a problem with the wiring in the car or the gauge.

Excuse my auto electrickery ignorance, but could this be the same/similar for the fuel gauge. Mine seems very eratic, it says I used 1/4 tank to eastern creek which is about 15 mins drive away of which 95% is 100km/h on freeway.

Could possibly be dirty contacts but its a bit different setup.

Remember that if you take the fuel pump cradle out replace the o-ring before you put it back in. Trust me.

Yeh, we put new pump in bout 10 months ago. We replaced the o ring, the one we got was slighly too big so it squeezes out from under the viewing hole/tank lid thing.
