help - bonnet pins!

does anyone know how to put on bonnet pins to your car?
my instructions aren't in english and i dont wanna screw it up so if anyone could post how to do it, it would be much appreciated.

ok this might seem like a stupid question but what are bonnet pins used for?

it would depend on the type of bonnet pin you have , and the way you want it to go
maybe post a pic of the pins for more help

bonnet pins are use in racing to hold down the bonnet incase the latch comes loose etc.  so that it doesnt fly up and block your vision or hit other competitors cars

i'm gonna get bonnet pins for my car because at high speed the bonnet tends to bounce around a bit

ahhh i see, how do they work? is there a hole cut into the bonnet or is it a case of tieing something through the pins?

yes , you have to drill holes trought your bonnet
 and through the front raiator support
ill try and get some pic up for you guys

well  i'm sorry if i don't get back to anyone quickly but as some of you know i have my 9-5 job and i am also working at mag wheel & tyre, so i am veeeeeeery buuuuuuuusy these days.



anyway bonnet pins,

firstly only fit them if you are going to take your vehicle on the track otherwise you will have holes in your bonnet that do not really need to be there.

if you do need them you must first fit the pins to the front panel infront of the radiator
measure them so they are even, also make sure that they are not in line with the bonnet supports (the bulky parts under the bonnet)

once fitted put ink/paint on the top of the pins.
lower the bonnet onto the pins then lift up again, you should have two paint/ink marks on the underside of the bonnet.

place insulation tape in the shape of an X over the mark this stops the drill from slipping during drilling.

once the holes are drilled lower the bonnet and place the locking brackets over the holes  and mark the 3 or 4 screw holes place tape over and drill again.

now secure the locking brackets to the bonnet lower the bonnet and you will have to adjust the pins by the bolts on top & under thefront panel.

it might take a while to get it right.

next time you need to open your bonnet just remember you have to get out first then get back in an pull the release.
