Powerchips
« on: Feb 16, 2006, 01:37PM »
Anyone used one of these before? I didnt know anyone made something for the U13, but turns out these guys do.

Here's what they say:

"In standard form, the Nissan Bluebird LX / SSS / Ti 2.4 produces 112 kW, however the addition of a PowerchipGold 98 will increase the power to 127 kW. In addition to the extra power, the torque is also increased. The Bluebird LX / SSS / Ti 2.4 produces 210 Nm standard, and this is increased to 237 Nm. This means more pulling power especially up hills. "

Provided you use 98RON fuel.

powerchips are a load of shit. all the n/a chips i have seen only advance timing by a few degrees, something you could do for free.

they woudlnt give you anywhere near the gains that they claim.

i can do u13 chips. i'm just having trouble getting an australian rom image.

powerchips are a load of shit.

I second that. After seeing the "powerchip" maps for fuel and timing, they do not even touch the fuel maps.

Hmmm... interesting. Well if you can do the chips when can we expect them?

And if timing is all that is changed, then this increase of 15kw is similar to what you would get if you advanced it yourself?

I doubt highly that you would get a 15kw gain from simply advancing your timing.

a 15kw gain is very unrealistic unless the factory timing is detuned severely from, well, the factory.

Well if you need to jump into a U13 to grab the ROM, you can do it in my car.

Timing modification on the u13 can do up to about 7kw difference but i wouldnt touch it under normal conditions cos it will just not do anything.  On the dyno i did a few runs and all advancing the timing did was lose me power.  But it depends on the car.  If i were to change my timing now, i would do it on the dyno to make sure its actually having a positive and not a negative effect.
