this seems to be a common problem on the pintaras after a while, be it from general wear & tear items or from lack of maintenance it does happen & its a pain in the arse when it does.
first things first is to check the piping from the fuel pump to the fuel lines, if it is actually pumping fuel into the tank, then the lines are probably deteriorated & will have to be replaced. if its a fuelling problem, check your fuel pressure, if its excessivly low your fuel pump would be almost dead so you'll have to change it, otherwise it could be the fuel filter, if so, change your fuel filter over.. the fuel pressure should be around 294 kPa at idle and then after 3 minutes it should be around the 262 kPa mark. if it doesnt drop to 262 kPa then check the pressure regulator. if it drops below 262 kPa it will be because of the previously mentioned fuelling items, or it could even be a result of a leak. if its not this, maybe run some injector cleaner thru the system. if you've ever run octane booster thru the system you might have clogged fuel lines. some octane boosters have ethanol/methanol in them, when this mixes with unleaded fuel it turns into a thick soapie substance & clogs your fuel lines.
here are a few other things for you to try..
first try to start the car with the throttle fully depressed until engine starts (if it does). check the coolant temperature circuit. check to make sure your injectors arent leaking.
check your battery, fusible links and your fuses. check the integrity of the earth connection and battery connections. check the efi relay.
check the high tension leads are dry and securely connected to the coil and the spark plugs. check the plugs are not fouled, cracked or faulty. ensure they are correctly gapped. check the ignition coil and crank angle sensor. check your starter motor.
check the wiring to the ecu is clean and secure. if you have had your ecu modded ensure that the workmanship is of excellent quality (chips correctly inserted, piggy back units correctly wired up)
check for water in the fuel.
check the IAC valve circuit. check the alternator voltage output. on auto's check the inhibitor switch input.
check the throttle position sensor circuit.
if you dont know how to do any of these things i'd really recommend you getting your hands on a gregory's manual. they're only $30 from repco and other similar stores. they're manual #600. otherwise it might be a good idea to get the car towed to a mechanic.
once about a year ago i got stuck in a carpark in brisbane while on holidays, the car wouldnt start just like you mention. i got racq to come out and they couldnt figure it out.. luckily i saw my mechanic doing his shopping and ran over & grabbed him, he also checked it out with the racq and he had a few ideas as to what it would be but couldnt fix it in the carpark. so i had my car towed to his workshop which was only a few blocks away. in the morning, he tried to start the car just to refresh his memory about everything that was going on and the car fired up first go. in the end i just had the plugs changed (although they were 100% fine) and a general service done, didnt have the problem again. so i dont know.. sometimes these things just happen..
