engine swap.
« on: Aug 12, 2007, 04:38PM »
I've just killed a second gear box and my engine is coming up on 350,000km so i thought id swap the engine and gearbox out in one go.

ive got an engine, with pacemaker(i think) extractors and a gearbox for $550

i also got a new clutch, spigot bearing and all oils and fluids i needed plus some injector cleaner as the engine is from the wreckers and has been out for a while.

now to my question, just wanted to know from anyone who has done this, or knows some one who has if there is anything else i might need..  or any little problems u might have had that i might be able to avoid if possible.

p.s. i havent forgotten and engine hoist, jack and stands

thanks to anyone who helps out

You're in NSW right ?

I can give you a hand swapping everything over after my trials.
Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

and if someone wasn't cranky at Chr1s for something he said...

how are your timing belt and drive belts alot easier with engine out and if you dont know the engine you may as well do it now, and are you getting your flywheel machined usually only about 30-40 bucks,
i just pulled an engine and i dropped it under instead of lifting it was a piece of piss lowered it onto a bread crate trolley kindly donated by woolies then just hoisted the body and rolled the engine out did it by myself in half a day.
