drag racing...
« on: Feb 23, 2009, 06:21PM »
not sure if this is the right place for it,...

here goes, had the drags on sunday.
back when the car had a slipping auto it ran a 14.3, now manual it won't do any better.
there is some suspect trail of VHT up the front left guard, sure i could hear it buzz up.
wrx's would waste me off the line but there trap speeds were no better.

i tried most of the rev range off the line but just could not get away clean,
i know the track was not well prepped but doing 100+mile an hour though the trap
i think i should be well into the 13's

am i wrong or is this a hnu12 thing.
please share ya thoughts. :-\

6000rpm, and side step the clutch. Just make sure to bring plenty of driveshafts. ;D

I reckon youve gotta ride the clutch a fair bit. Big revs, keep it on boost and ride the clutch out pretty quick but without bogging it off boost. It will shag you clutch but its better than dropping it an 7000rpm and stripping first gear. Maybe you could try skinnier tyres so you can get a bit or wheel spin.

Or try launching it in reverse its a lower ratio  :)

I reckon try skinny tyres... I ran a 13.8 with only and exhaust and 13 PSI of boost. You gotta get a bit of slip.

what were your 60ft times?

I did a 13.8 in my auto u13 with t25 zorst, fmic and boost.

Having said that when i went back manual and t28 best i could do was a 14.1 cos i couldn't get 3rd at WOT due to shit mounts.

whales  :D

ASFAIK your car is setup for circuit, to run numbers you probably need to change more than half the car.
Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

you would of gone faster if you had let me lower the tyre pressures a little

You just have to find the best rpm point in which the clutch picks up and launches the hardest/best
