cut a long story short i got new 6" splits and when i ease my 6x9's and level out the sound.... it fricking makes my 6x9's crackle and same with the splits if its up to loud...

WHATS up with that! it means i have to have more of my sound back into the rear 6x9's.......... (might as well not even have the splits...) is it because of the 6x9's ( the wiring is PERFECT... it has nothing to do with that as i check double check and re-check everything + i used to be a sparky so i know what im doing) anyway i get a little sound out of my splits but not alot as i have to transfer it all into the rears. which shits me no matter how much i play with the settiongs etc.. should i just take the 6x9's out??? but if i do... i think it will sound shit... plus i cant be bothered getting a new parcel shelf to replace the HOLES in mine.. *sigh* anyways if any 1 can help would be greatly appreciated....

do you have a loudness setting on your head unit? turn it off. put all the bass, treble, mid controls to zero. if it has preset eq set it to flat. Adjust your fader till you've got the right amount of sound in the front. then adjust all the eq controls manually till it sounds how you like it.
If the wiring is perfect then thats the only reason i can see the speakers distorting. loudness = the same as turning the volume up. it will just make your speakers distort sooner. in the case of preset eq, don't be lazy, just play around with it manually till it sounds good.

what about the power setup...
are the 6x9's running on an amp or straight off the head unit?
if its straight off the head unit that could be your problem as not enough power is being served to the speakers to compensate for how loud you want them to get.
iI get a similar problem with my setup as its all off the head unit and then when i set it up to the 20 range its starts to distort and crackle a bit

bout to ask the same question, most headunits are only 4x22 WRMS, a entry level pair of 6x9s are about 50WRMS, more if they are higher end gear and splits are about the same, which means if you are running them off the deck, you are running most if at less that half their rated power, which is where you will get some king of distortion, if the are running off an amp, check the gains arent to high, or that the crossover level isnt too low, those can also cause distortion at higher levels.

and also, a little bit of basic grammar and punctuation wouldnt go astray

im just going to amp them. i fiddled all yesterday with the settings yet again. it makes no difference. there $300 splits.. it shits me that this goes wrong. anyways thanks for the info. (checked wire again no problems there

Bows to stick. I was thinking that it was probably not getting enough power from the HU but i wasnt sure. See u learn somthing new everyday!

Because im a stupid dummy?

ha no couldnt be (insert bad word here) hooking up another amp its getting outta control as it it... i need to get a seperate battery for all my gear so until that happens the splits wont be running nor getting run off an amp. in saying that i just seen my bank account.. and saturday it will probably get done..

why would you need another battery?? if youve seen the piss small battery the 180 has, and the amount of crap i have, theres no point in getting another one, just replace your standard one with something that has a higher cold crank value, plus if memory serves me correctly, having a second battery is defectable if its in the cabin, and being a hatch, that means you..

I think it's illegal unless it's a sealed battery or an unsealed battery that's been sealed in a box and vented to the outside of the car.

haw i have a sedan not a snatchy

and i didnt think it was illegal unless it wasnt strapped boxed etc.. agh well i do have a extra heavy top of the notch battery which set me back nearly 200.......................... ............ but lets not go there anyway when using the multi metre i discovered the voltage drop...so hence thats whats got me worried..
