Hey Guys,
This is my first post, cool eh!
So anyway, here is the deal with window tinting.
I am myself a window tinter, been doing it now for around a year and a half. Down in Wollongong
fmx_rider - while large chain stores are usually cheaper, it doesnt mean you get a better job, usually someone buys into the business (being a franchise) and maybe only gets like 2 weeks training, let me tell you, it takes much longer to learn how to do a GOOD job. Always check out the place first, ask how long they've been doing it.
Now there is really only 2 types of film, with little differences, mainly put down to different manufacturers.
1st type - 5 year warranty: This film is for those who dont expect to keep the car for longer than 4-5 years. This is the dye film, which basically changes colour (purple) after only maybe 2- 3 years, after the 5 years, it'll start to bubble up, and you'll have a hard time seeing out. The good thing is, its cheaper. Lots of caryards use this.
2nd type - Lifetime warranty, now this is the good stuff, its basically guarenteed for the life of the car, never to bubble, peel or fade. It also has a slightly more mirror like look, but this depends on the manufacturer...This should always be your 1st choice if you want looks and quality!
Here in wollongong, we charge $165 for the 5 year and $245 for the lifetime, now this is for your normal darkness of 35% (legal) (Which I might add is considerably cheaper than other places in the Wollongong/ Sydney area)
Being that Pintara's are older than "94" it is (and this is hush hush) possible to go darker and not worry about insurance and cops and such. While we arent supposed to do it, most window tinters do anyway.
Another to check whether the window tinters are good, is to ask your local car dealerships who they use to tint their new/used cars. If they trust the tinters then they should provide a good quality job.
If anyone wants to know more, just send me an email and i'll answer any questions you might have!
Thanks for reading my incredibly long post!
