Title: A little help with whiteline kit
Post by: Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing on Dec 26, 2005, 04:10PM
I have almost made enough to afford a whiteline Handeling pack and Sports pack. I know alot of you have the Handeling pack but as iv read most of you have lowered your car by meens of kings springs etc. My question is from a looks standpoint does the sports pack from whiteline make the u13 realy look that much lower and if not would it be ok to fit the shocks from the Sports pack with shorter springs or alternatively buy a different set of springs and matched shocks.

Iv herd alot of negatives against having springs that are not matched to your shocks. Iv also herd that quote " Due to the strut frount end, it is unwise to lower the car too far" (quote taken from an article permoting the whiteline sports and handeling pack).

Iv seen alot of Altimas in america that have been lowered with a set of coilovers that would be lower than the whiteline kit and from what i read in forums none of these cars have had any problems.

Well I hope you guys understand my question, Im just a little confuzzled.

And if anyone wants I can post the article from High Performance Imports about the Whiteline Kit.

Hey dude, well i've got that whiteline handling kit and must say is worth spending the money on. Just amke sure if doing it yourself you get the control arm bushes around the right way. You'll know they're wrong when the car starts pulling the the left.

Anyways as for the Sports Pack i dont know much. But i know that whiteline dont make front struts for the AU u13. They still have the springs from what i know. Now my car carries the springs and shocks that 'were' made by whiteline and is deffinately the good alternative to go unless you buy a set of coilovers. If you ring up D2 in Aussie they will quote you $1800-2000 for a set of coil overs, they would be the better way to go if you have the $$. Otherwise just get the springs and some Monroe shocks. Really wouldnt recommend using the stock shocks as it does kill them..

The problem with lowering cars with mcpherson struts, like our cars, is that you will need to make sure that the struts have a stroke that is short enough to cope with the lowering. That way, the strut won't bottom out as the spring compresses whilst driving around on it.
I have Monroe GT Gas shock in my car. They do a great job..... and they're probably cheaper than anything that whiteline will sell you??

Thanks for the help guys, I think I might save up a bit and get a set of coilovers, for piece of mind. Then get a handeling kit after that.

Btw dont even talk about stock shocks there terrable very soft and im pritty sure mine are just about dead anyway. I guess ill have to work my ass off to afford this, Could afford the handeling kit now but ill proberly wait with the state of my shocks I should realy be getting a set of coilovers 1st.

Could you guys reccomend a place to get a set of coilovers. Or should I just go to a local workshop?

Hey,

I would recommend the D2 coilovers,  I have them fitted to my SSS along with camber tops front and rear.  Also have whiteline swaybars front and rear and strut brace.  I have replaced all the bushes throughout the car also.  Handles quite well on 235's 18"s can really push the corners.  I can get whiteline products quite cheap as I am a dealer for them.  If you need any help let me know.  Send me an email to   [email protected] as I do not come on here all the time.

Regards
Brendan
