Ive got a a pretty standard 1990 TRX, I want to start modding it and i wanna start with the basics first because i dont know that much yet.
Ive painted my interior panels black and red. The next thing i wanna do is paint me rocker cover and extractors. (i got the idea from this site). I cant decide
on colour. I was thinking red rocker cover yellow extractors. I just wanted a few opinions. BTW if i paint the extractors with VHT engine enamel will it last?
-
i think yellow might be going a little far... personally i thin its best to keep it simple and stick with 2 colours
so both red will look nice (if its poss to paint the extractors, i dunno bout that)
too many colours and it will styart to look like a rainbow

Yeah I didn't think my extractors could be painted. It's just that they are rusty looking and are ugly. Is there any way out of this?

Send them to HPC to be ceramic coated.
I guarantee if you paint them yellow you will get laughed at.

Yep, yellow extractors and a red rocker cover will look like a Ronald Macdonald engine.
If you really want to paint your extractors just to make them look respectable instead of rusted and ugly then you can buy a flameproof coating made by VHT http://www.speco.com.au/vht_flameproof.html
I've never used it, but I know a few people that have and it is still OK after a couple of years. Please, please, please don't paint them in a bright colour, it'll look crap, go for grey or black.
IF your prepared to spend a bit more (to get a better, more beneficial finish) then do what dVsU12 suggested and get them ceramic coated by HPC.

i painted my rocker cover red, because i like the colour on rocker covers
ive seen a blue one, it looked nice as well.

I painted my extractors black. Used high temp black. Still fine after a good 5000 or so kays. Only problem was scratching it when I put them back in. Have an orange rocker cover too.
Doesnt matter if theyre rusty, get em off and put some elbow grease into them
Stick with two colours, much nicer than bits and pieces different colours

Thnks for all the input guys.
Sticking to two colours makes much sense. I've already got a red and black theme going on, so Im gonna go with the red rocker cover and black VHT for the extractors.
I have a few days off work in about a week from now I'll do it then and let you know how I went.

Yep, you've got to be very carefull with high temperature paints because they don't fully cure until they start getting some heat through them, so the paint will scratch through very easily when your fitting the part. The finish will be a lot more durable after a bit of driving.

i reckon you should paint the rocker cover black and highlight the lines and writing with the red!! it would look good in my opinion but what ever you do its gonna look nice aye!
