Just wondering if any of u guyz know the quarter mile time for a stock U13 lx Bluebird???
-
only one way to find out...... ;)
-
Thanks mate, I'll love to try not too. But...... the car came with hopeless tyres & I've got no budget for new tyres... sign.... :'( Anyway, any recommendation for decent tyres and the recommended tyre pressure for the tyres (205/60/R15 I think). Ta ;D
-
low 16's are about the norm for a stock car.
-
Low 16s sounds like a good car to start off with, considering I only have a 1.6 Ford laser previously ;D
-
hey mate as for the tyres, bridgestone grid 2 are an excellent balance between price and performance, run them at about 36psi if u give it a go around corners. About $129 ea for 15's at bob janes.. dunno if u can get them cheaper somewhere else?
-
Thanks for the recommendation of tyres. Is that white car yours? Bluebird issit? Can't see too clearly. Looks great with the lowered suspension. Cool ride!
-
I'd definatly recommend the Yokohama C Drive tyres, check it out at www.yokohama.com.au
As for pressures, the Goodyear guy recommended 32PSI but I'd heard people recommend up to 38PSI. So I run them at 35PSI and it's fine :)
-
At 38psi you would fell every little bump, every corrigation. It would be really uncomfortable.

i just found some info that a stock u13 ka24de will do the quarter mile in 16.5 seconds.
-
noss do u know if thats auto or manual?
-
um.. just checking... 5sp manual
-

If I gun it in my Bluebird, it changes into 2nd between 6000 and 7000rpm.

At the moment I've just stopped at about 6K rev. Till new semi-synthetic juice for the engine. At the moment, it's still running on mineral shit (compliments of the previous owner). Anyway, in third gear at about 5K, the car should be moving at about 130kmh isn't it... Hmmmm...... ;D

It was once rumored that the LX was quicker than the SSS in a straight line, due to the SSS being heavier, but that may have just been the weight difference in the Japanese AWD model SSS.
As for tire pressure, i run mine at 30 at the fronts, and 27 at the rears, and when i want to do a "twisties" run i take it up 8 psi all the way round, so 37 at the fronts and and 34 at the back.
-
no worrys and no offence - its all stock
BUT it has some problems, not going to mention them.
if i had the scanner ild post the time, but i flogged you on reaction times 0.170s.
i also think mine could be heavier than yours. do you have the U13 ?? ANd auto or manual ??
P-Unit the SSS is heavier as it has more luxious and features in it. CLimate Control, Cd and stereo speakers?
-
being a 1994 it would be a U13.
Mines 5 spd, had 1/2 tank 96, amp in boot, upgraded speakers. At the time it had 190k on the clock.
-
I think the times are about right, just difference in drivers there if you ask me, or even just different track or tyres. I did a run with the KA24de rock stock and got about 16sec, and plenty of wheel spin :-[ lol my reaction time was 2.3 sec
Pretty sure reaction time doesnt matter to end time as the time doesnt start ticking till you actually move off.
-
Same but i have a water issue which has been around for a while.
ill be posting the story in a few days

My LX doesn't have climate control, but it did come with CD and Stereo speakers, which i promptly upgraded. The AWD on the Jap model is where the serious weight difference in the Japanese SSS comes into play.
