Title: Wiper piviot
Post by: NZ_Pintara_TRX on Dec 25, 2003, 04:02PM
do you guys have problems with the window wiper jaming under the bonet it does not worry me that much it is just trying to find a second hand one in nz is becoming a pain and trying to explain to wreakes that it is made in oz and it is differend than the jap bluebirds and the new zealand ones. after telling them the easyest way of telling the difference (LOOK AT THE VIN PLATE AND IT WILL SAY MADE IN OZ NOT JAPAN) after driving 10 ks down the road in a town i don't now my way around and is 5 times bigger and busyer and getting lost 3 times ( WE HAD A MAP) to find it was a piler less jap bluebird and a new zealand new one beside it

Any ways how easy will it be to find one in oz

i am getting p(ed) off with people that drop it after i tell them not to

Yep, mine scraps whenever I open the bonnet to work on the car.

Because of this, over time the wiper now hits the edge of the window on the drivers side when its 'wiping'...

I should fix that actually...  :o

you will find that a lot of the u12's (or at least the aussie ones) will do it. mr trx has a great sollution to this problem.. bend the base of the wiper arm. you do it on the short section between where it bolts onto the car & the pivot point.

he fixed mine up when he was doing some other work on my car.. works a treat.

I have the same problem as well.  Who can say "design flaw"!  :P

Yeah, dodgy design flaw...

Urqs TRX funnily enough, has had both the wipers replaced with differant ones to pass the roadworthy... both of them scrape like all fuck when you open the bonnet...

The perfect fix for the wiper hitting the pillar

Just simply reach down and turn ya stereo up or if you really wanna fix it turn the sub on

Works everytime !!!

In all seriousness though the basically all do it, and scrape the bonnet  Ijust always push mine down when I go to work under the bonnet.

ok besides bending the pivot joint, is it possible to by new wiper arm's and blades that sit lower, to transplant them in??
mine is starting to annoy the shit out of me.

or instead of bending it u can undo the bolt at the armw here it pivots, move the arms down a lil bit then tighten the bolt back up.
This bolt is the fulcrum of the wiper, so if it stops under the bonnet when u use it, undo the bolt and lift it up alil bit, or if it hits the drivers side pilar, undo the bolt and move it down... mine did this, and thats how i fixed havent had any probs since... my wiper motor died a while back and yeah, i learnt ALOT about it when it toko me a whole day to do it!!

Mine does this too, but only since I took them off to paint them. Now when I do what you just described, pull it off turn it around, its way too high...think i will be bending mine as well.

I had this problem too - it turned out that the arm had come loose and moved a notch on the pivot bolt. I simply moved it up a notch and tightened it and bingo, no more scraping on the bonnet.

had the problem on my corsair so I swapped sides and it fixed it.
Don't know if a previous owner had switched them over it it had been like that from the start but it fixed it and no issues with the length they work fine
