Gday all.
Just checkin what everyone is using for oil.
I have a boosted KA24 and im using Penrite 15-30 semi synth and im pretty unhappy with it.
Might try some thicker stuff
Curious to see what u guys are all running!!

Running shell 15-40 at the moment.. Was running 15-50, but the 40 seems a bit better..
Kind of hard to define "better" tho.
:D

Mines an SR20, but even when I had the KA i was using penrite hpr15. Always ran perfect with it and the SR still does.
-
penrite all the way , ka i used hpr 30(whit 500k km ::)) , now with the vvl i was using 15, only yesterday i put in 10. i think the main issue, no matter what oil you choose change regularly as well as the filter.(about 5k). ;)

i ran mobile 10-40w semi synth was originally super syn but i think its now called 2000x not sure, that wat i ran in my Ka and i had no issue wid the oil
i use motul turbo light 4100 on my turbo sr atm

mine (ka24det) loves Castrol GTX3
runs cool & it's still full at every 5k oil change
i'm also running a larger Z9 oil filter if that makes any difference

you may need to run slightly thinner oil in winter than summer....

It does, drops your oil pressure.

Shell 20W-50 in both cars, probably still run this even with the new motor in the black car.
-
Why so thick?
-
Both are original bottom ends, and are what is recommended from the factory.
-
i use mobile 10W-30 in my 180k mile KA with no issues.
changing the oil can be a real pain sometimes though.

How so?

If you have the right tools it's a 20 min job, if you have a hoist it's a 10 min job ;D
-
15-50 which i think is necessary if you have the high k's.
