gday,
when i got my trx it had a very soft clutch,
is this normal or does the clutch need replacing?
cheers blake
-
yea my clutch is like that too since i bought the car...im just presuming its normal...4 the trx anyways still shifts gears fine both granny style and racing style

If it bothers you replace the seals etc in the clutch master cylinder. Doesn't cost much and makes a difference. Leave a day to do it and take your time. If it has too much freeplay try adjusting the pedal.
Hope that helps.

good pointer wid the free play i had a good 10 cm or more of free play on my clutch when i first got it...its way less now

grab a heavy duty clutch from the antrx.com shop and you'll be set :P :)

Soft clutch isn't always bad. Importantly, is the clutch slipping? There are HD clutch kits which feels a lot softer than stockie but offers more grip. ;)

cheers for the replys,
no the clutch isnt slipping i was just wondering if it is normal?
thanks again

i got a slipping clutch lol. My bro broke the rear engine mount bracket and the only gear he could get was 3rd because the motor was sitting so low. SO he decided to drive 30km in 3rd in peak hour traffic. :D . little brothers hey.

If the clutch is engaging correctly and no slippage or crunching of the gears its fine. For good measure replace the clutch fluid and bleed the system as many people neglect to change the fluid and it does effect the performance of the clutch particularly when racing and giving it a hard time. Clutch and brake fluid should be changed every few years as it gets moisture in it and can cause blockages and rust in the lines.
