Title: more on aircon

just had the system regassed today and ive found that its not very cold.  the gas was low before and use to switch the system off once th pressure droped.

i dont understand how it could not be as cold as before.  its not shutting off like before and the leak it had has been fixed.

so what could be wrong?  i have a terminally ill partner and 4 year old daughter if i cant fix it easily i will have to sell the car. 

It is cold but nowhere near how cold it should be.

Depends on what the gas before was. R12 was a awesome refrigerent, however very bad for the ozone layer.

R134A in the newer gas, it does the job but is not as good as R12.

There is FR12 on the market in some places, cheaper to put in older cars like U12's which originally came with R12 from the factory. Not sure on how it performs compares to R134A.

got my aircon done today not as cold as i was after it cools the car down but not down to icy cold temps...done at profix for 159...cost me extra 40 bucks coz seal near firewall was leaking,

Man they slog you for A/C stuff dont they!!! so expensive.

I got rid of my A/C cos i've never had it working... but after 3 hot days and a long road trip i've decided I want it back.  Need new smaller radiator and all new pipes though  :-\  $$$  :'(
