Atm something on the rear of my car is touching when i reverse or go forward while turning left at the same time because it squeels. Really loudly when reverse tho thats when its at its worst, it only start a little bit (just tiny bit of squeel while coming around a left bend) after i power slided the car on grass at the malalla race way car park, and as the km tick by it seems to be getting worse like the squeeling im getting when i reverse is really loud u can hear it from the car clear as crystal! Wimbe would be able to back up how loud it is since it grabbed his attention lol
im just after anyone whos had a similar problem and what is wrong?
and how much im looking at to get it fix or if its a easy diy.

Hey dude you mean like a loud squeeling right at low speep particularly when steering right?
I had the same thing a few months ago.. its probably the drive belt is either loose...worn etc or in my case the alternator bracket had 2 bolts missing meaning the alternator was loose resulting in the belt moving side to side causing the squeeling noise.

naa the noise is coming from the rear of the car, when i turn to the left and any direction when reversin even straight lol
altho i do have what ur explaining aswell im just not worried about it atm i noe its just a belt and i only get it on full lock

Take it to a mechanic and get them to check your wheel bearings, if they have gone they can cause the disc to 'wobble' slightly touching the caliper. I had this issue but up the front.

just a thought as well i had a noise coming from the rear of my car in reverse, it turned out to be the the inside brake pad of the rear disc brake metal backing being pushed against the rotor, only in reverse though :S never figured out why it happened but hey. Give it a shot as well before you spend money on a mechanic

jack up your car until the wheel is completely off the ground
and wriggle it in and out (top and bottom using the centre as a fulcrum)
ie- one hand on the top of the wheel, the other on the bottom and push with one hand, pull with the other, if the wheel moves or makes a knocking noise, you're bearing is stuffed.
do the same although for left and right of the wheel rather top and bottom.
if there is any play with the wheel, check all your suspension bolts and then start saving for new wheel bearings.

The bearings themselves are $70-150 per corner depending on what brand, what car and where you get them from. Add labour ($NFI) on top of that.
But it could be as simple as worn brake pads.

it can be brakes or just cold brakes (depending if reversing on a cold morning)
my mate always reverses out of his driveway (cold mind you) and he says the brakes squeel, it's auto so his always on the brake pretty much and i said do it now (car was warm as well as brakes), it didn't do it so i came to conclusion it was cold brakes :)

na diffinatly not cold breaks i was out in the city trying to find a park accelrating and braking hard and i had to back up and she was squeeling like a bitch, was embarrising too lots off ppl were watching lol

my brakes always did it whether they were hot or cold and only in reverse, it was cause they wore own in a slant for some reason

Maybe one of the guide pins is stuck which is why it is wearing in on an angle?

Apparently mine have an everlasting squeak as they are high performance pads, and dont get up to ideal working temp, so basically always cold. If i brake hard enough it goes away, but normal braking they squeak every time. Warm or cold. They arent worn. Front brakes.

Do you have the stock shims in? they help reduce the squeel. Might help...if not i might have some lying around somewhere.
Edit: This is fronts only atm, rears i might not have. Will let you know in my Ti EOI parts sale.

It was aimed at you. They are like a sheet metal the size of the pads that sit between the pad and the caliper on both sides.
Dont have a pic atm.

that car park is bumpy as anything, you probabbly have done your wheel bearings
