hey did a quick search and couldn't find anything that answered this particular question:
today my car idled a little weird when i started, then later on the ECM and Brake warning lights came on briefly, I haven't found any other problem as this happened only about 20 mins ago.
I'm hoping it's bad fuel (BP), but i would like to see if any of you can give me a diagnosis of what it might be incase it gets worse.
oh and its the Ca20e if it helps.

The ECM light coming on won't be a result of bad fuel.

I had the same problem a while back with those lights your talking about. My problem was car wouldnt start on a regular basis. so i took it to an electrician and said to him what was going on. Just as so he had owned a pintara him self, he said that the alternator regulator module dont last long in them being so close to the exhaust manifold, so he replaced the module and that was it no problem since.

It was my brake and battery lights that were coming on when my reg was dying. Not my brake and ECM lights.
If you want to make your regulator last a bit longer, fold up a heat shield out of some sheet metal and mount it over the part of the manifold near the alternator.

crapp i just looked at it again, now i look like a dumbass :(
mine was his problem up there^

no problems since... i'm blaming gremlins at this stage.
i'll have a poke under the hood and clean everything out.
