hi all
i have a u12 pinny with a ka24 manual
the problem goes my speedo stoped working and it felt like my power went up (not sure if it was my emagination)
then my speedo started intermitantly working but then the car started runing like a bag of sh$%
Are thease problems linked or is it a coincidence.
If so would it more likely be the sender on the gear box or the speedo its self

Speed sensor is the likely problem. There is a harness near the battery check that also.
Speed sensor is located on top of the gearbox.

thanx mate it is booked in to get gas fitted tomorrow so it will have to wait till i get it back so i can sort it out
i disconected the speed sensor and it runs ok but the speedo wont work with out it.
i think it has been on its way out for a while as the cruse control has been doing some strange things on the highway

Nissan dont make them anymore, just pull it apart and rebuild it. Very easy to do.
Any questions PM me.

no worrys so wat do you do just clean it out or do you replace somthing inside of it
-
I just pull the sensor apart and cleaned up the contacts inside and use a little bit of graphite powder to cut down the friction.

sweet thanx man ;)

i have got 2 spare speedo sensors for the ka24 ti manual, before i found out it was the cog set up that spins the pulse sender. would be wise to check that as well. The sensor screws to it, undo the sensor and one 6mm bolt and it will pull out. The plastic cog on mine was shaped like a U. But all good now.
If your car starts stoping at 2,500 rpm for limp home that will be the reason.
