Pintara tape deck removal
« on: Jul 28, 2008, 05:57PM »
I'm going to install a new system for my son in his 91 pintara and need to know how to get the old standard tape deck out without breaking anything. I've removed the 2 plastic side trims and had a couple of screwdrivers down the side of the tape deck but don't want to continue until i know exactly what I'm up against.

the deck is mounted to a metal bracket.

You need to remove the trim surrounding the tape deck. From memory the screws are:

2 in the ash tray (need to remove ash tray to see them)
2 just above the deck
and 2 to the left of the steering wheel column (screws into the underside)

once that bits off there are 4 screws holding the bracket in place.

this is the trim you need to remove(can see all the holes for the screws in this pic): http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc000313du.jpg
