SQ designed sound setup
« on: Aug 14, 2007, 09:52PM »
Well, i've got no car audio anymore and I need to sort my speakers out again.

I'm not into DB i'd prefer SQ, but I still like it loud, as long as it doesn't distort.

I want bass, but if I can get away with no subs, I would.

What are your suggestions on speaker/amp setups for good balance that can handle some volume.

I already have a good deck so don't worry about that

ps. factor out things like splits worth 600 each like focals  :P, not too expensive :).

what sort of deck Chriso?

My most recent system was built for SQ (apart from the sub lol), i had a pair of MTX TXC6.1 splits, run off a bridged TH684 (each Speaker was getting 280rms) these splits are bi-ampable, meaning you can amp the tweeters also. Make sure you get a good set of splits (mine are for same btw lol) and a well powered amp to run them.

Id still recommending getting a sub... a good quality one, in a box designed for nice, tight, resposive bass reproduction

I lurrve MTX TXC6.1s  ;D How much do they cost now Sticky? $499 or $399 or something? Well worth it IMO.

Make sure you sound deaden your doors (or at least seal off the inspection holes in the metal).

And no they aren't the splits he sold you. I think they were T6.6 speakers -->http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/2004speakers/thunder6000seperates.cfm

At least its a kenwood, lower impedance on the RCAs.

They were T6.6, like Jono said, these TXC6.1s are the shit man, i had just them in my car, with sound deadened doors and they sounded awesome.

The retail at $499, dropped from $649 i think

Nice head unit chr1S, I've fitted a few of them and they always work well. Are you getting anything else like a nav or bluetooth module? It's nice to have all that sort of stuff in one unit, without cluttering up your dash.

I love their nav units too, easy to install, easy to use and integrates well into the system.

As far as amps go, I'd get something like a MTX TA3404 bridged up to run the speakers.

How much are the nav units ?

I was thinking high end rockford fosgate speakers (splits and rear coaxials) no good ?

nav units (KNAG430A) is about $950, works just like a factory toyota screen...only better, and are one cable plug in.

High end rockford stuff is decent, its the mid/low end stuff that sucks teh balls

Jono has a point there, if ur after a purist SQ setup, steer clear of 6*9s.
