How many Speakers off a crossover ?

I am wondering if i can double up the outputs off the crossover units? Run 2 speakers & 2 tweeters from 1 crossover.
OR
Should i just split the input lines to 4 crossovers, 2 Left & 2 Right, (presently 2, with 1 Left & 1 Right) with 4 tweeters and 4 speakers, presently 2 tweeters & 2 speakers.

Crossovers are Alpine Type-S. same as these

The extra 2, which i have lyin around, would be installed in the rear doors and tweeters on back pillars.

EDIT: forgot i took this photo. its the actual crossovers that have been shoved up and under the dash

Not the Best idea kim, because you'd be changing the resistance of the speakers from 4ohm to 2ohm by wiring them in parallel and I doubt your 2/4 channel amp will be stable at 2ohm and therefore won't work.

now what would work is if you ran the front speakers off the amp and then the back speakers off the back of the headunit :)

EDIT: ...I just re-read you post, running 4 inputs into 4 crossovers is the way to go  ;D

I think all my amp does is look pretty and run the parcel shelf speakers.

this pic should clear it up

Option 2 is the way to go ? off course its repeated for the other side of the car

Voice coils as small as the ones in a set of splits arnt physically large enough to run at anything below 4 ohm without burning out. Definatly one crossover per corner (4 crossovers for 4 speakers)

Yeah option 2 is the way to go.

Jello, most aftermarket amps are 2 ohm stable, but look up the specs before you hook them up just to make sure.

Spoke to dude at Westside car audio.
He recommended puttin new clarions into the front doors and move the alpines to back door.
the back door set he said to plug them in as full range speakers or do as i had planned with extra crossovers.
The back doors would only accommodate 5 1/4" with a mount made up.
This bloke kept sayin yeh you can do all this yourself, seems he doesnt want to work on my car.

And what is the best way/place to mount crossovers under the front dash ?
How do you take off the front door skins? i read the manual and the trim didnt want to come off, stuck near the mirror ?

Personal preference thing, but I don't like the sound of most of Clarion's range. Why did he say you needed new speakers?

Also, why do you want to put speakers in your back doors? Your car never had them from factory, did it? IMO all you need in your car is a set of good speakers up the front and a sub. More speakers just gives you a slightly louder system, definitely not a better sounding system.

If you mix and match different brands and models of speaker you'll get a weird sound too, because of the different response of the different speakers.

Jono, you covered everything for me...

Why put speakers in the rear? do you drive from the back seat? noo.. so spend the money on a decent front end, amp and sub

Only thinking about putting speakers in the back doors because i have 2 spare
So there either in my car or my brothers corolla if we can be bothered.
These clarions actually have a greater frequency response then the installed alpines Jono and Sticky

Not sure but hes likely to give me another discount

Is the 'frequency response' measured between the -3dB points on the response curve? Alot of speaker manufacturers fudge their ratings, I wouldn't be surprised if Clarion is as well. Don't buy stuff for the sake of spending money on your stereo, buy it because it sounds better than what you've got.

Put the extra speakers in your brother's car. You don't need them in yours. And if you cut holes to fit more speakers you'll always have to have speakers there to fill the holes.
