someone to install a stereo in nsw
« on: Apr 27, 2007, 06:20PM »
Hi All,

I bought a pioneer stereo and two pioneer speakers today for $240. Was $220 for headunit and an extra $20 to buy the package. The speakers are  6" two way to go in the front doors. Are these suitable ??.
I am a complete noob when it comes to anything even remotely auto electrical, although I am willing to learn if someone will teach me. Therefore I need someone to install these items for me, willing to pay someone (maybe cash or case of beer). I am in Penrith and am willing to travel within reason.
Strathfield want $130 to install and me and dad came to the conclusion that this is too much.

Looking to get installed within the next week or so.

Cheers Chris,

When can it be done and where abouts are you.

Was just wondering with the two way speakers. What exactly are they and would it be better putting them in the parcel tray and the current rear speakers into the front doors seeing as they are both 6".

I'm in the hurstville area.

two way speakers are just the 6" cone (for midrange) and a tweater mounted on it in the centre (for treble)

I personally feel front stage is more important, although they'll "feel" louder in the rears.

i'd say, put these up front and get 6x9's at the back.

when do you want it done ?

beware that you'll have to hack up the trims to make the 6's fit. Or make custom pods. or put them straight into the metal and risk not being able to wind the window down. I think the pioneers mount pretty shallow though, try your luck.

Rathies,

was thinking about that when I woke up this morning.

Chris,
Would like them installed on sunday but is probably bit short notice for you. Next weekend I have my nan's 90th birthday to go to on saturday, sunday I might have to take my little brother to footy, I will let you know anyways.

its only a small but that needs to be taken out of the trim, mounting depth on those speakers will be 42mm, so id probably use a 12mm spacer/bracket dealie, that will cut down on the amount you will need to trim

Had a change of plan of sorts. I got 4" x 6" two way speakers for the doors as I thought six inch might be too deep and hit the window. They are JBL brand and cost $90 for the pair. Put them in today, just changed them into the standard speaker 'craddle' and soldered the wire on the back. Now only need head unit installed.

It's a bit late but if you take the factory spacer out of the door the Pioneers drop straight into the hole, and they're shallow enough that they won't hit the window either.

All installed now, I put the speakers in and dad wired the head unit and I put the HU back in.

Was easier than I thought.

Thanks for the offer to help Chr1s
