There are noise filters but they do no eliminate the noise they just reduce it.

Just make sure ur wiring is corrent and dont have your power cable running next to ur RCA's and ur remote. That should get rid of most of it. Also im guessing ur amp isnt the best quality and or your headunit wasnt every expensive either. Some amps and headunits are well known to make engine noise that you cant get rid of.

also make sure that you have good connections on your rca's, i know mine makes noise when an rca comes loose

actually make sure you have good connections all the way around, don't just twist and tape connections, solder them or at the very least crimp some terminals onto them

chicken wire rca leads can also be to blame. do you get the noise when the speakers are connected to only the head unit?

also, if its a pioneer headunit, it my be the earth track, so try grounding the rcas with something like remote wire or similar gauge

yeh its a pioneer head unit, speakers make no noise when just connected to the head unit, the amp is boss audio but brand new, speakers are also pioneer, i also think it might be the cheapo rca's

if its not the rca's then you could always use that amp as a door stop.

haha so true. :D

Umm I doubt it's your RCAs, I'd say it's more likely a blown ground track in your head unit, try wrapping a bit of bare wire around the metal outer ring of your RCAs where they connect to your head unit, then ground it to the case of the head unit using one of the case screws.

If the noise has been there since they installed your system take it back and get them to fix it. Minimising engine noise is part of the installation process.

If you have cross overs (which in a 6x9 case you wont) if you have them installed near ur ECU that will cause motor feedback, to solve this, make sure all termincals are insulated, and wrap the cross ove rin foil, then with a peice of wire, wrap it around the cross overs, then to an earth point.
Wires running past the ECU could also cause this noise if they are crap insulation/guage

RCAs or crossovers running alongside power wires or electronic components of your car (ECU or other control modules) can induce noise into your system, but speaker wires will hardly ever pick up noise.

I'd say it still could be the amp. new Boss might aswell be the same as an old Boss.

Pioneer aren't that bad a head unit, not sure what you guys are on about... if they are crap, what are good?

IMO:
Eclipse - just sold one but would gladly buy another
JVC - Just bought one and it sounds a teensy bit better than the eclipse
Pioneer - I had an expensive one ages ago and the volume control broke off, that was a major turn off for me. The new midrange upwards models aren't bad though.

They have a tendancy to blow earth tracks rather frequently

not by build quality god no. But the sound is a teensy bit better for some reason. Like I said, I'd still buy another eclipse

Young bogans also have the tendency to buy the uber base model and think they can destroy the neighbourhood with it.

I've seen about 5 Pioneer decks in the last 6 months that have had blown ground tracks, I usually dismantle the head unit and solder a wire straight from the RCA shield to the main ground track on the board. For some reason the later models (6ish-series onwards) have an extremely low rating surface mount fuse tying the RCA shield track to ground. I'd have thought a beefier ground track would suffice.

Would the ground track just stop noise, or could it be the cause of dropping channels?

Hmmm... didn't know about this earth track issue... I've never seen it happen before  ??? Not that I would buy a Pioneer anyways  ;D

But honestly... If you think you can hear the difference between a JVC and an Eclipse (letalone think the JVC is better?!?!), I will give you $100 cash  8) Of course you would have to prove it  ::)

no, its just grounds the RCAs to the unit chassis, it wouldnt cause channel drop
